Our First Step Phonics Classes for Nursery Schools have three aims:
- Inspire all children to develop a love of learning, including those with special educational needs
- Support Nursery staff to meet the objectives of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, assisting with transition to school
- Engage parents, introducing them to Phonics so that they are better equipped to support their child in the future
How can we support your Nursery?
We can deliver weekly phonics sessions to groups of children within your nursery school setting. In addition to introducing children to Phonics, sessions also incorporate activities that help children to develop key skills required to meet other areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, for example fine and gross motor skills and numeracy. Each session is mapped to the Foundation Stage Curriculum so that your staff can track which objectives are being covered.
We are also able to support your staff by introducing them to activities that they can use with the children in order to consolidate learning from the sessions, further developing your children’s Phonics knowledge and key skills.
What do you get from a First Steps Phonics session?
All of our First Step Phonics sessions are developed and delivered by a qualified Foundation Stage teacher who has over 10 years’ experience of working within Early Years settings; 100% of the children in her class passed their Year 1 Phonics Screening Check. Each session involves a series of interactive activities, including stories, songs and dancing, that engage your children whilst also enabling them to develop key skills.
At the end of each session, your children will be given resources that they can take home and complete with their parents. This consolidates the skills developed during the session and allows parents to develop an understanding of Phonics before their child starts school. Your staff will also be provided with resources and ideas that they can use to further develop the children’s learning.
How will First Steps Phonics meet your business’s individual needs?
We are able to adapt our sessions to meet the requirements of your nursery’s staff and children. We are happy to provide a free consultation in order to establish how we can best support you. This allows us to develop bespoke sessions that meet your specific needs and those of the children in your care. All of our staff have a valid DBS certificate and are experienced at working with children with a range of special educational needs.
We are also able to offer CPD sessions to Nursery staff in order to introduce them to a variety of strategies and techniques that they can use in order to deliver Phonics-centred activities to the children that they care for.
How much will a First Steps Phonics session cost?
We appreciate that every nursery must work within its own budget, so we have developed two different pricing options so that you can select the one that best suits your setting’s needs.
