Would you like to give your child some extra support with their learning?

During each First Steps Phonics session, children learn about the ‘Sound of the Week‘. At the end of the session, children are given some resources to take home .  These include an image of the letter and an activity.  In order to support your child’s learning, it would be really helpful if you could:

• Display the image of the letter somewhere that your child can see it, for example the fridge
• Spend time completing the activity with your child, talking about the sound of the week
• Discuss the sound of the week with your child, helping them to identify other objects that start with the same sound
• Select one item that starts with the sound and bring it to the next First Steps Phonics session.  We will hold a ‘Show and Tell’ in which children will get the chance to discuss the item that they bring
